Tension engulfed passengers aboard a Toronto-bound Air Canada flight originating from the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport in Delhi as authorities revealed the receipt of an email alleging the presence of a bomb on board, officials disclosed on Wednesday. However, the purported threat ultimately amounted to nothing more than a false alarm.
According to officials, the Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) office was alerted to the threat via email at 10:50 pm on Tuesday, claiming the existence of an explosive device on the Delhi-Toronto Air Canada flight.
“In adherence to established security procedures, a comprehensive sweep of the aircraft was conducted, yielding no signs of any suspicious items,” stated a senior police official. He further confirmed that appropriate legal measures are underway to address the incident.
