Animal Husbandry Probe: ED Demands Scam Details

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has embarked on a meticulous investigation into the purported Rs 700-crore deception within the Sheep Rearing Development Scheme (SRDC) in Telangana, scrutinized under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). To advance their inquiry, the ED has requisitioned comprehensive details about the scheme’s execution from the Animal Husbandry Department.

In a formal communiqué, the agency has petitioned the State Sheep and Goat Development Cooperative Federation for extensive information, including the identities of beneficiaries, the vendors from whom the sheep were procured, bank account particulars where payments were transacted, and the names of the involved officials and other pertinent individuals.

The ED is anticipated to require several additional days to amass the requisite data due to the recent appointment of numerous officials, including high-ranking bureaucrats, within the department. On Thursday, Subbarayudu, the additional director of the department, assumed supplementary duties as the Managing Director, while Sabyasachi Ghosh, principal secretary of the youth welfare department, has taken the helm of the Animal Husbandry Department.

It has been disclosed that these newly instated officials will relay the requested information to the state government by Friday. Data pertaining to the beneficiaries, vendors, and officials are being meticulously gathered from all districts and will be furnished to the ED.

Moreover, the ED has solicited the internal inquiry report of the department. Senior officials are anticipated to seek authorization from the state government prior to divulging the details to the agency.
