1. Unsettled Weather Patterns: Chhath Puja Alert

The upcoming Chhath Puja festivities might encounter disruptive weather conditions. According to meteorological projections, an air system with reduced pressure is forming over the Bay of Bengal, gradually progressing northwestward. There’s a likelihood of this system colliding with coastal areas on November 17, potentially leading to intense winds and heavy rainfall.

2. Early Onset of Heavy Rainfall

As of November 16, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD Weather Prediction) indicates the emergence of a low-pressure air mass over the Bay of Bengal and the Andaman-Nicobar region. This pressure is anticipated to move in a north-northwest direction, transforming into brisk winds or mild storms by November 15. Subsequently, on November 16, the storm may intensify, posing a collision risk with the coastal regions of Andhra Pradesh.

3. Varied Impacts on Regions

According to IMD forecasts, the storm is expected to change its course towards the north on November 17, heading towards Odisha. Coastal areas in Odisha may experience robust winds and substantial rainfall. Weather experts suggest that due to this storm, parts of southern districts in West Bengal might witness substantial rainfall from November 16 to 18. The IMD also predicts the possibility of light to moderate rainfall and strong winds in multiple segments of Bihar and Jharkhand during this period, potentially leading to a drop in temperature.

4. Advisory from the Weather Department

In light of the approaching storm during Chhath Puja (IMD Weather Prediction), the Meteorological Department has issued a precautionary advisory for the public. The advisory emphasizes the risk of flooding and landslides due to heavy rainfall. Consequently, there is a possibility of rivers and streams overflowing. As a precautionary measure, people, especially fishermen, are advised to avoid venturing into the sea. The department urges the public to stay vigilant, heed weather warnings, and take necessary precautions to ensure safety.
