Dibrugarh/Jorhat (Assam): The initial phase of the Lok Sabha electoral process is presently ongoing in Assam, covering five constituencies. Eager citizens have been congregating at polling stations since dawn. In the Dibrugarh Lok Sabha constituency, voting commenced amid stringent security provisions. Voters are set to determine the prospects of three principal candidates in Dibrugarh.

Sarbananda Sonowal, the BJP nominee and current Union Minister, exercised his voting rights at Sahityarathi Lakshminath Bezbaruah Bhavan, designated as polling booth number 130 in Dibrugarh. After participating in the voting, the Union Minister expressed confidence in his triumph.

Sonowal mentioned to the press that there is currently a prevailing inclination towards BJP everywhere. As per his observations, people are turning out to vote early, creating a vibrant atmosphere. The two other prominent contenders in the race are United Opposition Forum’s Lurinjyoti Gogoi and AAP’s Manoj Dhanwar, whose political destinies will be determined by the electorate in Dibrugarh.

In Jorhat Lok Sabha constituency, substantial turnouts were evident at each polling station from the morning. Gaurav Gogoi, the Congress nominee, cast his vote following a moment of homage before a portrait of his late father, former chief minister Tarun Gogoi. The MP stood in line with other voters to cast his vote.

Gogoi exercised his democratic right at Devicharan Baruah Balika Vidyalaya located in Ward No. 10, Jorhat. The Congress representative appeared slightly moved, recalling memories of his father while voting. Following the completion of his voting, Gogoi remarked that the current battle is to safeguard democracy. He extended cordial wishes of a joyful New Year and Rongali Bihu to his rival, Topon Kumar Gogoi. Additionally, he encouraged all voters to participate in the election as the weather conditions were favorable.
