In the city of Guwahati, Assam’s Chief Executive, Himanta Biswa Sarma, has envisaged an overwhelming triumph for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), proclaiming the acquisition of 12 out of the 14 Lok Sabha constituencies within the state.
As per Sarma’s proclamation, the saffron faction is poised to secure three out of the four seats contested during the third phase of electoral proceedings, which transpired just yesterday. The tertiary and final phase of polling in Assam was conducted across four electoral divisions, namely Guwahati, Barpeta, Dhubri, and Kokrajhar.
Assam bore witness to a notable voter engagement, with a participation rate reaching 81.71% during the third phase, marking the highest turnout nationwide amidst an overall percentage of 64.58%. Among the quartet of constituencies, voter engagement stood at 81.07% in Barpeta, 86.80% in Dhubri, 75.67% in Guwahati, and 80.44% in Kokrajhar. Notably, the constituency of Dhubri saw the zenith of voter turnout at 86.80%.
Addressing his constituents via his designated social media platform, Sarma expressed his sentiments regarding the potential electoral outcome across the aforementioned constituencies, asserting, “The insights gleaned from today’s electoral process affirm the commendable momentum sustained by the NDA throughout all phases hitherto. In the quartet of constituencies that underwent electoral scrutiny today in Assam, the NDA shall emerge victorious in three. The fourth remains a contention, as is only natural.”
Likewise, subsequent to the conclusion of the second phase of polling across the five electoral divisions of Silchar, Karimganj, Nagaon, Diphu, and Darrang-Udalguri on April 26th, Sarma had earlier intimated that the BJP was enjoying a substantial lead in four out of the five seats.
In consolidating Sarma’s preceding prognostications, the BJP’s cumulative seat tally in Assam culminates at 12 seats, encompassing five from the initial phase, four from the subsequent phase, and three from the latest phase. Out of the total 14 constituencies in Assam, Sarma has apportioned a mere two to the opposition factions.
