In Mumbai, Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister, Ajit Pawar, alongside his spouse, Sunetra, who also vies for the Baramati Lok Sabha constituency under the NCP banner, and the eminent NCP(SP) leader, Sharad Pawar, accompanied by his offspring, Supriya Sule, the rival contender, marked their ballots during the third phase of electoral proceedings on the morning of Tuesday. Supriya Sule, daughter of Sharad Pawar, is contesting against Sunetra in Baramati.
Ajit Pawar, along with his family, arrived to cast their votes at a polling station situated in the Katewadi locality of Baramati. “Today, I have availed myself of the privilege to participate in the electoral process alongside my kin in Katewadi. The act of voting epitomizes the ethos of democracy. To fortify this democratic edifice further, I earnestly beseech a substantial turnout at the polls,” he expressed on Twitter.
Addressing the press, he highlighted the presence of his mother, Ashatai Anantrao Pawar, the senior most member of the Pawar family, who also partook in the voting process.
Conversely, Sharad Pawar was accorded a traditional ceremonial welcome, marked by an aarti ritual, upon his arrival at the polling venue in Malegaon area of Baramati earlier in the day. Patiently queuing up like any other citizen, he exercised his franchise before departing for his abode in Govindbaug.
Supriya Sule, Sharad Pawar’s daughter, a sitting NCP-SCP Member of Parliament and the contender from Baramati, also cast her vote at a polling booth in the vicinity. Exhibiting her inked finger, Sule emphasized the ongoing third phase of polling and urged for its peaceful conduct. Emphasizing the pivotal role of the Constitution in a robust democracy, she stressed its centrality.
The polling process commenced at 7 am today, with the district administration ensuring requisite arrangements for a tranquil electoral exercise in Baramati, which boasts approximately 23 lakh eligible voters.
