In anticipation of his upcoming bail hearing in a court of Delhi, Manish Sisodia, the incarcerated AAP leader, penned a missive directed towards the denizens of Delhi, expressing gratitude towards those within his electoral district of Patparganj for their attentiveness towards his ailing spouse. His second epistolary communication from the confines of Tihar Jail, inscribed in Hindi, emerged on the eve of Friday. Within its prose, he drew parallels between his captivity and the imprisonment endured by individuals under the colonial rule of the British during the struggle for independence.

“Farewell, momentarily. May the education uprising persist, and affection to all. Over the past year, I have yearned for everyone. Recollections of all have lingered within me throughout this duration. Together, with unwavering integrity, everyone has toiled. Just as the populace united during the struggle for liberation, similarly, we strive for the advancement of quality education and institutions. The aspiration for independence materialized despite the autocracy of the British. Likewise, a day will dawn when every progeny shall receive adequate and superior education…,” articulated Sisodia in his correspondence, dated March 15, to the populace of his Patparganj constituency.

Drawing an analogy between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ruling at the helm and the colonial regime of the British, Sisodia asserted that he found inspiration in figures such as Mahatma Gandhi and Nelson Mandela.

“The British harbored immense pride in their dominion, resorting to incarcerating individuals on fabricated charges. Gandhi endured prolonged imprisonment under their custody. Similarly, Nelson Mandela faced confinement. These luminaries serve as my muse, whilst you all stand as my pillars of strength,” inscribed Sisodia. Emphasizing the indispensable role of quality education and institutions in fostering national progress, Sisodia articulated.

“The trajectory towards national development necessitates the presence of superior education and institutions. I derive solace from witnessing the educational reform spearheaded by Arvind Kejriwal in Delhi. The reports of a similar educational renaissance unfolding in Punjab bring me solace,” conveyed Sisodia.

In acknowledgment of the care extended towards his spouse, Sisodia expressed that his affection for the constituents burgeoned during his period of confinement. “My affection towards you all has burgeoned during my incarceration. Your benevolence towards my spouse has not gone unnoticed. Seema, when recounting her experiences with all of you, becomes overtly emotional. It behooves all of you to prioritize self-care…,” he inscribed.

Sisodia remains under investigation by the Directorate of Enforcement and the Central Bureau of Investigation for his alleged implication in the defunct Delhi liquor policy case. The erstwhile deputy chief minister of Delhi was apprehended by the CBI on February 26 last year and is slated for a bail hearing on the ensuing day.
