In a scathing rebuke aimed at the Siddaramaiah-led Congress administration in Karnataka regarding the purported decline in law enforcement standards within the state, the BJP branded the renowned metropolis as “Udta Bengaluru,” alleging a surge in the prevalence of illicit substances and wild festivities.
This development follows the recent unearthing by Bengaluru Police of a raucous celebration at a countryside estate, purportedly attended by 86 individuals, including a luminary from Telugu cinema. Venting their grievances on ‘X’, the BJP contended that since the ascension of the Congress regime in Karnataka, instances of “unseemly congregations” had become rife across Bengaluru.
“Law enforcement has faltered, administrative disarray laid bare. Since the inception of the Congress administration, debauched gatherings have proliferated across Bengaluru. The Silicon City now teems with narcotics, cannabis-fueled revelries,” stated the BJP Karnataka faction in a vernacular communication.
The BJP also disseminated a visual campaign featuring Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar, accompanied by the hashtags #BadBengaluru and #CongressFailsKarnataka, to assail the state’s governance. In the visual released by the BJP on ‘X’, the capital was depicted as “Udta Bengaluru,” with allegations of it transforming into a “hub” for narcotic activity and widespread rave parties.
The term “Udta Bengaluru” draws a parallel to the 2016 Bollywood film “Udta Punjab,” shedding light on substance abuse among Punjab’s youth. As per law enforcement sources, analyses of blood samples procured from attendees of the recent countryside revelry revealed that 86 individuals, including a Telugu film personality, tested positive for controlled substances.
A total of 103 individuals partook in the gathering, masquerading under the guise of a birthday celebration. The attendees comprised 73 males and 30 females.
During the raid on the countryside estate near Electronics City in the early hours of May 19, police confiscated MDMA (Ecstasy) tablets, MDMA crystals, hydro cannabis, cocaine, luxury automobiles, DJ paraphernalia, including audio and illumination equipment, valued at Rs 1.5 crore. Subsequent to the operation, blood specimens were collected from participants at a private medical facility, revealing positive drug tests for 59 males and 27 females.
“A majority of attendees were observed indulging in substance consumption. The Central Crime Branch intends to issue summonses to those testing positive,” divulged a police insider.
