In Bengaluru, a 28-year-old individual is under suspicion of inadvertently ending his own life on Wednesday while attempting to extort his spouse, who had taken up residence elsewhere due to frequent altercations.
The occurrence unfolded within the vicinity of Bagalagunte police station in Bengaluru. The deceased, recognized as Amit Kumar (28), originally hailing from Bihar, had relocated to Bengaluru a decade ago and was employed as a fitness instructor in the locality.
A year prior, Amit forged an emotional bond with a lady and entered matrimony with her despite opposition from his guardians. However, discord became prevalent between the couple after his wife commenced a nursing curriculum.
According to local residents, Amit contended that his spouse consistently engaged in conversations with her acquaintances over the telephone, thereby disregarding his presence, leading to recurrent disputes. Frustrated by the frequent altercations, Amit’s spouse vacated their shared residence and opted for a separate dwelling, as relayed by witnesses.
Amit persistently implored her to return home. On Wednesday, he initiated a video call with his spouse and began issuing threats of self-harm if she failed to reconcile.
Law enforcement authorities disclosed that the deceased aimed to intimidate his spouse, yet his endeavor tragically misfired, resulting in his unintended demise. “At first glance, the evidence suggests that strangulation led to the fatality. The body has been conveyed to Victoria Hospital in Bengaluru for post-mortem examination. A case has been logged at Bagalagunte police station, and inquiries are currently in progress,” stated a senior official.
