Amidst the imminent challenge of the pivotal floor test scheduled for February 12, Nitish Kumar, the Chief Executive of Bihar, is slated to preside over a conclave with JDU MLAs this Sunday.
Mandatory attendance has been instructed for all JDU MLAs during this session. The agenda of the meeting is anticipated to encompass a comprehensive discussion on the strategic course of the party throughout the assembly proceedings and the methodologies to foster unity among the MLAs.
Simultaneously, a banquet was convened at the domicile of Shravan Kumar, the Minister for Rural Development, on the preceding Saturday, graced by the presence of JDU MLAs, Legislative Councilors, and cabinet ministers.
However, a notable number of MLAs refrained from partaking in the luncheon, with prominent figures such as Bima Bharti, Anirudh Yadav, Ashok Kumar Chaudhary, Dilip Rai, Aman Hazari, Gunjeshwar Shah, Sudarshan, Shalini Mishra, and Dr Sanjeev Kumar conspicuous by their absence.
In the wake of former Deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav’s assertion that ‘the game is yet to be played,’ the ruling party maintains a perpetual state of vigilance. Both the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Janata Dal-United are diligently endeavoring to fortify the cohesion among their MLAs.
Conversely, the JDU has issued a stringent directive, known as a whip, to all its MLAs.
Within the Bihar Assembly, constituting 243 members, the NDA holds sway with 128 MLAs. This conglomerate comprises 78 from the Bharatiya Janata Party, 45 from the Janata Dal-United, 4 from the Hindustani Awam Morcha, and an independent MLA.
Contrastingly, the Grand Alliance commands 114 MLAs, with the Rashtriya Janata Dal contributing 79 members, Congress supplying 19, and the Left parties contributing 16. Additionally, an MLA affiliated with AIMIM may align with the opposition coalition.
