Upon delineating a trajectory toward ‘Elevated Bharat’ (enriched India), Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled the BJP’s proclamation for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections on Sunday. This unveiling coincided with the commemoration of B R Ambedkar’s natal day, the mastermind behind the Indian Constitution.
In attendance, alongside Prime Minister Narendra Modi, will be party President JP Nadda and Home Minister Amit Shah. Additionally, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh shall grace the occasion. Per party insiders, the BJP’s proclamation underscores advancement, a flourishing India, women’s empowerment, youth welfare, poverty alleviation, and agrarian upliftment.
The crux of the proclamation revolves around “Modi’s Pledge: Enriched India 2047,” with a pivot toward cultural nationalism. Spearheaded by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, the BJP constituted a committee for crafting the proclamation, convening twice to deliberate its essence. Preceding the unveiling of the ‘Sankalp Patra,’ the party conducted extensive outreach, encompassing widespread campaigns nationwide to solicit public input.
The BJP amassed over 1.5 million recommendations for its proclamation, comprising in excess of 400,000 submissions via the NaMo application and surpassing 1.1 million submissions via video recordings. Slated from April 19, 2024, to June 1, 2024, the Lok Sabha elections in India are set to elect the 543 representatives for the 18th Lok Sabha. These polls shall span seven phases, culminating in the declaration of results on June 4. Approximately 970 million eligible voters, out of a total populace of 1.44 billion, are poised to partake in the electoral process.
Simultaneously, the state assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Odisha, and Sikkim shall coincide with the general elections. Furthermore, by-elections shall be conducted for 35 constituencies across 16 states.
