In anticipation of the forthcoming Lok Sabha electoral process, JP Nadda, the national leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has designated CR Kesavan as the national spokesperson for the party.

CR Kesavan, who is the great-grandson of C Rajagopalachari, the final Governor-General of India, severed ties with the Congress last year to align with the BJP.

In a recent announcement, the BJP disclosed its election-in-charge and co-in-charge for various states ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. Assam will be overseen by Captain Abhimanyu, Chhattisgarh by Nitin Nabin, Delhi by OP Dhankhad, Maharashtra by Dinesh Sharma, Meghalaya by M Chuba Ao, Manipur by Ajeet Ghopchade, Mizoram by Devesh Kumar, Nagaland by Nalin Kohli, Telangana by Abhay Patil, and Tripura by Avinash Rai Khanna.

Additionally, Shriraghunath Kulkarni will serve as co-election in-charge for Andaman and Nicobar, while Alka Gujjar will take charge in Delhi, Nalin Kumar Katil in Kerala, Nirmal Kumar Surana in Maharashtra, Jaibhan Singh Pawaiya in Maharashtra, Sanjeev Chauraisa in Uttar Pradesh, Ramesh Bidhuri in UP, and Sanjay Bhatia in UP.

The Lok Sabha elections are slated to be conducted in seven phases commencing from April 19, with vote counting scheduled for June 4. CR Kesavan, a prominent BJP figure, recently criticized the ruling DMK party in Tamil Nadu for allegedly disparaging India’s space research community through a newspaper advertisement featuring a ‘Chinese rocket’.

Kesavan decried the DMK’s actions as not only disgraceful but also reprehensible. He emphasized the significance of figures like Dr. Abdul Kalam, a renowned scientist from Tamil Nadu, in India’s space endeavors. Kesavan underscored the BJP’s role in honoring Kalam with the Bharat Ratna in 1997 and later electing him as President in 2002, despite his non-political background.

The BJP representative accused the DMK of promoting a divisive narrative and undermining national unity. He urged the party to issue an apology for its actions, warning of repercussions from both Tamil Nadu residents and the wider Indian populace should they fail to do so.
