In a noteworthy turn of events, Sita Soren, a legislator representing the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and sister-in-law to former Jharkhand chief minister Hemant Soren, opted to align herself with the BJP on Tuesday. This decision came after Sita perceived a sense of disregard and isolation within the ranks of the state’s ruling party, prompting her departure from the JMM.
At the headquarters of the BJP in New Delhi, Soren formally joined the party’s ranks in the presence of esteemed figures such as Vinod Tawde, the national general secretary, and Laxmikant Bajpai, the Jharkhand poll in-charge. This strategic move by the three-term MLA signifies a significant gain for the BJP, particularly in their endeavors to establish a stronger rapport with the Scheduled Tribes, a demographic that has traditionally lent substantial support to the JMM.
Earlier in the day, Sita Soren, who represents the constituency of Jama, tendered her resignation from the JMM, citing a perceived marginalization alongside her family members. In a candid resignation letter addressed to her father-in-law and the party’s supremo, Shibu Soren, Sita delineated her grievances, highlighting the lack of adequate assistance provided by the party following the passing of her husband, Durga Soren.
Expressing her dismay, Sita conveyed a sense of estrangement and reluctantly made the decision to sever ties with the party. She underscored her disappointment, hinting at a departure from the foundational principles of the party by accommodating individuals whose convictions do not align with its intrinsic ethos.
