In the electoral arena of Patna, the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) under the leadership of Chirag Paswan emerged victorious on all five seats in the recent Lok Sabha elections. Among these victories, the spotlight shines brightest on Shambhavi Choudhary, who clinched the victory in the Samastipur constituency.
At a youthful age of 25, Shambhavi has etched her name in the annals of Indian parliamentary history as the youngest Member of Parliament, defeating Congress candidate Sunny Hazari by an impressive margin of 1,87,537 votes.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself lauded Shambhavi’s candidacy, affectionately referring to her as his own daughter during campaign rallies. “The youngest daughter of India is contesting the elections. Please bless us, our daughter must win,” expressed PM Modi, rallying support for her.
Shambhavi’s candidacy stirred fervent discussions and excitement among NDA supporters and the public alike. Over time, she garnered immense popularity, particularly among the youth and women demographic.
With her triumph in Samastipur, a reserved seat, Shambhavi, hailing from the Scheduled Caste (Pasi community), now holds the distinction of being the youngest Dalit MP.
Previously, Bihar witnessed a similar feat when former Chief Minister Lalu Yadav secured victory from the Saran constituency at the age of 29 in 1977. Chandrani Murmu of Odisha, who became an MP in 2019 at 25 years and 11 months, held the record until Shambhavi’s historic win.
“This victory is a testament to the trust bestowed upon me by the people of Samastipur. I am committed to fulfilling their expectations and serving them diligently. It goes beyond electoral triumph; it’s about earning a place in the hearts of the people. My heartfelt gratitude to the people of Samastipur, NDA leaders, and workers,” remarked an elated Shambhavi.
Shambhavi, daughter of minister and JDU leader Ashok Chaudhary, hails from a family entrenched in political legacy, with her grandfather, Mahavir Chaudhary, being a revered leader in the state. Married to Sayan Kunal, son of former IPS and Patna-based Mahavir Mandir Trust secretary Kishore Kunal, Shambhavi’s cross-community appeal, drawing support from both Dalit and upper caste constituencies, contributed significantly to her victory.
In contrast, Congress candidate Sunny Hazari, son of minister Maheshwar Hazari, faced defeat in the Samastipur constituency.
