In Dehradun, Uttarakhand, a strict stance is being taken against individuals creating reels during the Char Dham Yatra. Director General of Police Abhinav Kumar has issued a notification to senior superintendents of police, stating that cases will be filed against such individuals.
The Uttarakhand government has implemented a comprehensive prohibition on videography or reel-making within a 50-meter radius of the temple complexes at all four Dhams.
Under Section 21 of the Uttarakhand Police Act 2007, individuals engaging in videography will face legal action, being deemed a nuisance under Section 81 of the same act. Moreover, severe repercussions await offenders under Section 296 of the Indian Penal Code.
Furthermore, deliberate and malicious insults to religious beliefs can result in cases under Section 295-1 of the IPC. Individuals can also be charged under Section 153 of the IPC for creating videos based on religion, caste, location, language, or community, as per police statements.
The DGP emphasizes the need to bolster monitoring systems to swiftly identify and address individuals spreading false or misleading information about Char Dham Yatra sites on social media platforms.
Char Dham Yatra comprises Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri, attracting a significant number of devotees. Authorities are committed to ensuring a smooth and hassle-free pilgrimage experience for all devotees amidst the increasing footfall.
