Amidst the tranquil streets of Chhapra, Bihar, tragedy unfolded in a chilling saga of domestic turmoil turned fatal. A husband, engulfed in a tempest of emotions, plunged a knife into his wife and two daughters, leaving a trail of devastation in his wake, local authorities confirmed. In a heartbeat, the serene ambiance shattered as the mother and one daughter succumbed to their injuries on the spot, while the other fought for her life en route to Patna, only to meet a tragic fate.
The accused, identified as Bittu Kumar, resided with his wife, Rambha Devi, and their daughters, Anshika Kumari, aged 15, and Chanchal Kumari, aged 12, in the tranquil quarters of Ekma block. Initial probes unveiled a grim narrative of escalating disputes festering within the confines of their home, ultimately culminating in the grisly act.
In the wake of the harrowing incident, authorities swiftly intervened, with officials from Rasoolpur Police Station promptly securing the bodies and dispatching them to Sadar Hospital for forensic examination.
The night prior to the tragedy, the tranquility of the household shattered once again, engulfed in a tempest of emotions. In a fit of rage, Bittu seized a blade, unleashing a torrent of violence upon his wife. Amidst the chaos, his daughters, Anshika and Chanchal, rushed to shield their mother, only to suffer grievous wounds at the hands of their assailant.
Consumed by despair and guilt, Bittu attempted to extinguish his own existence with the same instrument of destruction. However, the commotion drew the attention of vigilant neighbors, who swiftly alerted the authorities.
Station House Officer (SHO) Prabhat Kumar affirmed that investigations are underway, awaiting the revelations of the impending post-mortem report.
“It’s a tale of simmering tensions exacerbated by economic woes,” confided a local resident on the condition of anonymity. “Bittu’s prolonged unemployment fueled the flames of discontent, culminating in yesterday’s tragic events.”
