Amidst the investigation into the demise of Hubballi college student Neha Hiremath, the CID task force has seized control of the case, apprehending the suspect Fayaz on Wednesday. Meticulously, the CID operatives, detaining Fayaz for a span of six days, escorted him to the premises of BVB College in Hubballi for an on-site examination, the very location where the tragic event unfolded.
Following Fayaz’s detainment from the confines of Dharwad Central Jail on Wednesday, the CID authorities conveyed him to BVB Engineering College, Hubballi, following a thorough medical evaluation. Directly from the jail, he was transported to the primary health facility where the comprehensive check-up ensued.
Within the halls of BVB College, arrangements were meticulously orchestrated for the on-site scrutiny. Under tight security, the CID officers escorting Fayaz solicited insights from the suspect at the scene, under the guidance of CID SP Venkatesh, who spearheaded the examination.
The CID task force, spearheaded by SP Venkatesh, kickstarted their inquiry on Tuesday, petitioning the First JMFC Court to transfer the suspect into their custody for further intel gathering. The court granted the plea, confining the accused to CID custody for a period of 6 days.
The Hubballi-Dharwad Police Commissioner entrusted the case files to the CID police on Tuesday, pertaining to Neha’s tragic demise. With this, the CID initiated their inquiry by assembling two distinct teams. Journeying to Hubballi city on Monday night, the CID team convened at the office of Police Commissioner Renuka Sukumar on Tuesday, assimilating the details of the case.
Subsequently, the officers proceeded to Vidyanagar police station, where the investigating officer of the case, ACP Shivaprakash Naik of the North Division, furnished them with the intricacies of the investigation conducted thus far.
Neha Hiremath, a diligent student, fell victim to a heinous crime on April 18 within the premises of BVB College in Hubballi. Widespread protests, spearheaded by the BJP and various organizations, have erupted across the state, vehemently condemning this tragic incident. Responding to the public outcry, the state government issued an order on Monday, entrusting the case to the CID for a thorough investigation.
