The newly appointed Union Coal and Mines Minister, G Kishan Reddy, announced on Monday his commitment to ensuring an uninterrupted coal supply across the nation. Addressing the press in Delhi late Monday, Reddy emphasized coal’s pivotal role in India’s developmental trajectory.

Upon assuming office, Reddy intends to engage in comprehensive dialogues with departmental officials to formulate an actionable strategy for both ministries and set a 100-day agenda.

“Prior to Narendra Modi’s tenure as Prime Minister, the nation frequently grappled with power outages, primarily due to coal scarcity and supply chain inadequacies. Modi ji’s administration heralded a transformative era with augmented coal production, effectively eliminating power cuts,” Reddy remarked.

He further elaborated, “Our goal is to perpetuate this progress by enhancing power and grid connectivity nationwide. We are committed to precluding coal shortages and boosting production in the forthcoming days.”

Additionally, Reddy, who presides over the BJP in Telangana, noted that Prime Minister Modi would attend the inauguration ceremony of TDP leader N Chandrababu Naidu as Andhra Pradesh’s chief minister on June 12.

Re-elected to the Lok Sabha from the Secunderabad constituency in the recent elections, Reddy was re-inducted into the Union Cabinet on Sunday for another term. His previous ministerial responsibilities encompassed the portfolios of tourism and culture.
