In a significant breakthrough, the Punjab Police apprehended two individuals affiliated with the Babbar Khalsa international-supported extremist organization in Jalandhar on Thursday.
Using his X handle, Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav declared that law enforcement successfully thwarted potential target killings through an intelligence-driven operation leading to the arrests. The operational network was overseen by Harpreet Singh, also known as Happy Passian, a terrorist based in the USA. He was closely associated with Harwinder Singh, alias Rinda, based in Pakistan. Working in collaboration with his Armenian-based accomplice Shamsher Singh, alias Shera, their mission was to indoctrinate and incite young individuals to engage in anti-national activities within the state.
“The operational network was orchestrated by Happy Passian, a resident of the #USA, closely aligned with the #Pakistan-based terrorist Rinda, and working alongside his partner Shamsher Singh, presently residing in #Armenia. Initial investigations suggest that Happy Passian collaborated with Rinda and Shamsher to radicalize the youth, motivating them to partake in anti-national activities within the state,” announced the DGP via Twitter.
The Punjab Police seized two firearms, along with four magazines and 30 live rounds, from the apprehended individuals. An FIR has been filed under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) and Arms Act at the State Special Operation Cell (SSOC) in Amritsar.
