In the latest update from New Delhi, the closing date for the Common University Entrance Test (CUET)-UG has been prolonged until March 31, as declared by UGC Chairman M Jagadesh Kumar on Tuesday. Formerly, the cutoff was set until 11 PM on Tuesday.

As per his announcement, “The final time for the electronic submission of the application form for the CUET-UG 2024 has been extended up to 9:50 PM on March 31, 2024, following the appeal received from applicants and other involved parties.” The examination is slated to occur from May 15 to 31.

This standardized assessment was initiated in 2022 to rationalize admission procedures across central, state, deemed, and private universities on a nationwide scale. A significant deviation from tradition, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has delineated a mixed examination structure for CUET-UG 2024, encompassing both computer-based assessments and traditional pen-and-paper methods for diverse subjects.

Officials have hinted that subjects experiencing substantial enrollment will embrace a pen-and-paper modality employing optical mark recognition (OMR), while others will persist with computer-based formats. In the preceding cycle, an estimated 14.9 lakh registrations were logged for CUET-UG, underscoring its importance in the domain of higher education.
