West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has raised fresh allegations against the Central government, claiming that Aadhaar cards are being canceled in several districts of the state. During a meeting in Seuri, Birbhum, she expressed concerns about the cancellation process and asserted that beneficiaries could still avail of state government schemes even without Aadhaar cards.
In her address at Chandmari ground in Siuri, Birbhum, Mamata criticized the Central government on issues such as the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), Uniform Civil Code, and the Aadhaar card cancellation process. She accused the Centre of making decisions that are detrimental to the people. There have been reports of Aadhaar card cancellations in various places across the state, leading Mamata to label it as an anti-people decision.
Mamata disclosed that individuals from Jamalpur, Birbhum, and Dinajpur had complained about the cancellation of their Aadhaar cards. Despite the cancellations, she assured the public that they would not be deprived of any government schemes, emphasizing that the state government would continue to implement all the existing programs.
Furthermore, Mamata directed the Chief Secretary to open an online portal to receive complaints from individuals whose Aadhaar cards are being canceled. This move reflects her commitment to addressing the concerns of the affected citizens and ensuring that they can still access government services seamlessly.
