In a fervent declaration on Tuesday, the AAP leveled allegations against Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena, asserting a steep decline in Delhi’s law-and-order climate over recent months, squarely blaming him for the degradation of the city’s police force.
The LG’s office remained conspicuously silent in response to these allegations. Stepping up to address the press, Saurabh Bharadwaj, a prominent figure within the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), recounted a series of recent criminal incidents, citing them as evidence.
“In Jaffrabad, a chilling incident unfolded as a man fell victim to a fatal attack in broad daylight, surrounded by witnesses,” Bharadwaj recounted, emphasizing that the victim, identified as a key witness in a murder case, suffered multiple stab wounds.
“The degradation of law and order has become alarmingly evident over recent months. According to data from the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), Delhi currently exhibits the highest crime rate nationwide. Shockingly, for every one lakh individuals, a staggering 1,832 crimes have been reported, a figure that dwarfs the national average by sevenfold.”
“These statistics glaringly expose the inefficiency of LG V K Saxena. Entrusted with the pivotal responsibilities of overseeing both the police force and the Delhi Development Authority (DDA), Saxena’s tenure has witnessed a catastrophic decline in the effectiveness of law enforcement,” Bharadwaj asserted vehemently.
Further indicting the LG’s oversight, Bharadwaj contended, “LG Saxena’s inability to effectively manage the police force is glaringly evident. We implore him to focus on his designated responsibilities and refrain from unwarranted interference in the affairs of the Delhi government,” urged the AAP spokesperson, with a tone of urgency.
