In Ranchi, the national general secretary of Congress, Jairam Ramesh, directed a series of four inquiries towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding his acknowledgment of the Constitution and his perceived reticence concerning caste and economic census.
Ramesh then queried PM Modi about his reticence regarding the cap on reservations, urging the prime minister to publicly declare his stance on the abolition of reservations.
Furthermore, he pressed PM Modi to elucidate the rationale behind his administration’s amendments that weakened legislation originally designed to safeguard the rights of tribal communities. He inquired about the alterations made to the Forest Rights Act 2006, Forest Conservation Act 1960, and Land Acquisition Act 2013, asserting they were detrimental to tribal interests.
Ramesh contended that the BJP has suffered significant setbacks in southern India and a portion of northern India during the initial four phases of elections. “With 379 seats contested over four phases, it’s evident that the INDIA bloc parties are poised for a substantial majority. The outcome of the remaining three phases will be inconsequential,” he elaborated.
“In anticipation of their defeat, PM Modi’s rhetoric has shifted. He appears both aggrieved and disillusioned. Congress derives its impetus to serve the populace from its 25 pledges. During his interactions, Rahul Gandhi empathized with ordinary citizens, acknowledging their struggles and grievances,” Ramesh asserted in Ranchi.
Ramesh highlighted the disparity between the PM’s assertion of non-discrimination based on religion and the polarizing rhetoric employed by him and his home minister. He confidently predicted BJP’s inability to secure any electoral victories in southern India.
Regarding PM Modi’s insinuation that Adani-Ambani funnel black money to Congress through the guise of tempos, Ramesh questioned the silence of ED-CBI on such a grave accusation. He expressed bewilderment at the lack of action by central agencies against alleged capitalist malfeasance.
“Our election campaign is centered around our own agenda. While the prime minister seeks to steer the elections towards communal divisions, we remain steadfast in our resolve not to allow him to mislead the public. The prime advocate of our manifesto is none other than the Prime Minister himself. Following his critique of our manifesto, it garnered an unprecedented five hundred thousand downloads,” Ramesh remarked.
