Authorities dismantled the illicit edifices situated before the abode of former Andhra Pradesh Premier Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy in Hyderabad. The personnel of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) eradicated the unlawfully erected police security shelters stationed in front of the Lotus Pond dwelling of Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Approximately three shelters were demolished completely at the location. The demolition transpired subsequent to grievances regarding the obstruction of the thoroughfare by said structures, thereby causing vehicular congestion in the vicinity. GHMC personnel conducted an examination of the premises and ascertained that the shelters materialized within an encroached segment of the roadway, thus contravening the stipulations governing construction.

The demolitions ensued subsequent to the ascension of the Congress to power in Telangana, supplanting the KCR-led Bharata Rashtra Samiti (BRS) in the 2023 Assembly elections. The former regime, led by ex-chief executive K Chandrasekhara Rao, fostered amicable relations with Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Furthermore, in this year’s electoral contest for the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly, the Jagan Reddy-headed YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) endured a resounding defeat at the hands of the triumvirate alliance comprising the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Janasena, and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The YSRCP, which secured 151 out of a total of 175 legislative seats in the 2019 elections, suffered a drastic reduction to a mere 11 seats in the 2024 electoral exercise.
