New Delhi: Punjab’s Chief Executive, Bhagwant Mann, is preparing to engage with Delhi’s leader, Arvind Kejriwal, presently confined within Tihar Jail, this upcoming Monday.
As conveyed by sources from within Tihar Jail, the appointment has been coordinated for midday. This arrangement followed a security conference between the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Tihar Jail and Punjab Police representatives, which extended over two hours. The consensus determined that on April 15, the Chief Minister of Punjab would convene with his counterpart from Delhi at the penitentiary.
Insiders at the jail revealed that only Chief Minister Mann is permitted to visit Kejriwal. In recent times, numerous AAP officials and dignitaries have contended that even Kejriwal’s spouse has been denied access to him. The security discussion transpired between the DIG (Prison) of Tihar Jail and the Additional Director General of Punjab Police (ADG).
As articulated by Arvind Kumar, Tihar Jail’s Public Relations Officer, ensuring security was pivotal for the assembly of the two Chief Executives, hence the meticulous orchestration of the encounter.
Previously, a session involving them and Sanjay Singh was arranged but deferred due to safety apprehensions. In response, Singh noted the session was not held despite jail authorities issuing a token for it. Subsequently, Tihar jail officials clarified that the intended meeting was annulled owing to a misstep in the booking arrangement for the rendezvous.
