The seasoned media veterans and authorities perceive the alteration of Doordarshan News emblem from red to saffron hue will scarcely contribute to amplifying viewership and commercial advantages. Expressing his stance regarding the revision of Doordarshan News emblem, Rajendra Bhatt, former Prasar Bharati Editor and media pundit posited that solely altering the hue will not facilitate the broadcaster in garnering the attention of viewers.

“It is not the initial instance the emblem, musket or hue has undergone alteration; in fact, it has been modified on numerous occasions, including the theme song,” Bhatt conveyed to. “It appears to be a political resolution to modify the emblem and hue because prior to any decision, three dimensions should be explored: aesthetic appeal, commercial potential, and political perspective. Two aspects, aesthetic appeal and commercial standpoint, are not apparent in this,” asserted Bhatt.

Echoing a similar sentiment, Pardeep Saurabh, a seasoned journalist and media authority, remarked, “We fail to comprehend the significance of altering Doordarshan emblem and hue.”

“It is strictly a political resolution because modifying the emblem and hue will not aid broadcasters in competing with other channels or garnering popularity. This alteration is purely a political decision,” contended Saurabh.

Gaurav Dwivedi, Chief Executive Officer of Prasar Bharti, reposted DD News post on X platform recently, “Whilst our principles endure, we are now presented in the novel form. Since the national broadcaster DD News introduced its fresh emblem, it has become the target of Opposition parties and faced censure from them for purported “saffronisation” of it.

Reacting to the alteration of DD News emblem, Jawhar Sircar, Rajya Sabha MP of Trinamool Congress, stated in a video message on X, “As former CEO of Prasar Bharati, it pains to witness the saffronisation of Doordarshan’s emblem – just ahead of elections! It will sway voters, overlaying the hue of one religion and Sangh parivar shade with a ‘neutral’ public broadcaster and a partial govt/regime!”

Sircar additionally inscribed and accused it is no longer Prasar Bharati, it is Prachar Bharati!.

Several officials of the Prasar Bharati stated the channel has undergone alterations in hue and emblem on several instances in the past.

Another official, Priya Kumar, inscribed on X, “In the realm of News… DD News instills trust… and shall continue to do so… in a novel appearance with a novel vigor…” Despite multiple endeavors to contact Prasar Bharti CEO, he was unavailable to provide commentary on the issue.
