In the wake of the tragic incident at East Delhi Baby Care hospital, the toll of lives claimed has now reached seven, with the demise of yet another child who was in critical condition and under ventilator support. The unfortunate event unfolded on Saturday night, engulfing the hospital premises in Vivek Vihar, Delhi, leading to the loss of six newborns and the evacuation of 11 others.

Emergency response teams, including the police and fire brigade, swiftly mobilized to the scene, initiating rescue efforts aided by local assistance. Presently, six children remain in a critical state under treatment at the East Delhi Advanced NICU Centre, while the rest receive medical attention.

After intense efforts, the fire brigade successfully contained the blaze that ravaged the hospital and extended to an adjacent building. The cause of the fire remains shrouded in mystery, pending investigation. Eyewitness accounts suggest the possibility of a blast preceding the inferno, with speculation ranging from a cylinder explosion to other potential triggers.

Authorities confirm the rescue of 11 newborns from the affected building, while the search and rescue operation continue. Atul Garg, Chief of the Delhi Fire Service (DFS), affirms ongoing efforts to ascertain the cause of the fire, reiterating the swift deployment of fire tenders upon receiving the distress call.

Details reveal that the fire broke out at Baby Care Hospital, Vivek Vihar, at 11:32 pm on Saturday, prompting immediate firefighting measures. Elected officials, including local MLA Ramniwas Goyal and Jitendra Singh Shanti, President of Bhagat Singh Seva Dal, were quick to respond to the crisis, underscoring the urgency of the situation.

Preliminary investigations hint at a mishap during oxygen refilling operations outside the hospital, leading to a series of cylinder explosions and subsequent fires. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal expresses condolences for the lives lost and pledges stringent action against any lapses in safety protocols.

In his statement, Kejriwal assures support for the affected families and emphasizes the government’s commitment to investigating the incident thoroughly. Health Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj echoes this sentiment, vowing to hold accountable those responsible for any negligence or wrongdoing implicated in the tragedy.
