In exchange for asking questions, Mahua Moitra, an opposition member of parliament, and other opposition MPs walked out of the Ethics Committee meeting, accusing the BJP of levying allegations of taking money.
Nishikant Dubey, a BJP MP who accused Moitra, said that this is a dark day in parliamentary history. He stated, “I did not hold a press conference for two reasons. First, the matter is under the scrutiny of the Parliament’s Ethics Committee, and second, such decisions are made in politics. Today is the darkest day in the history of Parliament.”
In fact, opposition MPs, including Mahua Moitra, walked out of a meeting of the Lok Sabha’s Ethics Committee. Moitra accused the committee’s chairman, Vinod Kumar Sonkar, of asking her inappropriate questions.
What did Nishikant Dubey say?
Dubey claimed that Vinod Sonkar, the chairman of the Ethics Committee, comes from a lower caste background, which is why there is opposition against him. He accused Mahua Moitra of compromising her integrity for some money and said that she has played with the nation’s security.
Dubey also mentioned that in the same parliament, they have seen MPs being dismissed for accepting bribes of even ten thousand rupees. If Moitra was buying lipstick, she will be questioned about it. He considered all these allegations as personal questions.
It appears that this situation revolves around allegations of unethical behavior within the Ethics Committee and has led to a political dispute between the ruling BJP and the opposition members, including Mahua Moitra.
