In the midst of the ongoing Delhi Chalo procession by agriculturalists, an occasion titled ‘Martyr’s Event’ is slated to take place in Hisar, Haryana, on Friday, March 22, drawing the presence of eminent agricultural leaders.
Reports indicate that this commemorative event, scheduled on the eve of the martyrdom anniversary of the renowned freedom fighter Bhagat Singh, is orchestrated by the United Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha to honor the agriculturalists who have perished during the ongoing agriculturalist protest. Eminent agricultural leaders such as Jagjit Singh Dallewal and Sarwan Singh Pandher are anticipated to partake in this gathering.
On March 31, the event will reach its culmination with a congregation at Ambala’s Mohra Anaj Mandi.
Wrestler Bajrang Punia to Enlist: A noteworthy aspect of this event is the inclusion of wrestler Bajrang Punia and others in the commemoration of the Martyrdom Day of Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, and Sukhdev, which will transpire at Shambhu Border and Khanauri Border on March 23.
Kalash Yatra by Agriculturalists Reaches Karnal: Notably, the Kalash Yatra, transporting the remains of the departed young agriculturist Shubhkaran Singh, embarked six days ago from Shambhu border and has now arrived at Nilokheri in Karnal after traversing through Panchkula, Chandigarh, Yamunanagar, and Kurukshetra.
Agriculturalists are conducting the Asht Kalash Yatra of Shubhkaran to exert pressure on the government and garner public support. Today marks the seventh day of this journey. Following Karnal, the Kalash Yatra will traverse through Kaithal for three days before concluding in Ambala district.
14 Demises Amidst the Movement: A total of 14 individuals, including three law enforcement officers, have succumbed thus far during the agriculturalist movement. On March 17 and 18, three agriculturists affiliated with the Kisan Andolan passed away due to various causes.
Among them, Shubhakaran Singh, a young agriculturist from Bathinda, Punjab, met his demise during altercations on February 21 at Khanauri border. The agriculturalists have lodged a formal complaint with the Haryana Police, urging for the initiation of a homicide investigation.
The agriculturists remain steadfast in their myriad demands, encompassing the enactment of legislation to ensure Minimum Support Price. Despite four unsuccessful rounds of negotiations with the authorities, the agriculturists affirm their resolve to sustain the protest until their demands are met.
