Fatal Bihar Crash: 9 Dead, 5 Injured in Lakhisarai Collision

In a tragic vehicular mishap that unfolded in Bihar’s Lakhisarai district, a ghastly collision between a truck and an autorickshaw claimed the lives of a minimum of nine individuals during the early hours of Wednesday, February 21, as confirmed by the local law enforcement. The harrowing incident transpired along the Lakhisarai Sikandra main road on National Highway-30, specifically near Jhalauna village within the jurisdiction of Ramgarh Police Station Chowk limits.

The in-charge of the city police station, Inspector Amit Kumar, recounted that the fateful event occurred around 1:30 am, catching the night in its somber embrace. Providing a detailed account, Kumar articulated that information reached the police department regarding a high-velocity collision involving a swift-moving vehicle and an auto-rickshaw. In response, a swift response team from the police force promptly descended upon the scene. The police meticulously retrieved the lifeless bodies strewn about and expedited the transportation of the injured to the hospital, as narrated by Kumar.

Evidently, it is surmised that the auto-rickshaw hosted a total of 14 occupants, among whom eight met their untimely demise on the spot. Tragically, one of the wounded individuals succumbed to injuries at Sadar Hospital. The health status of the remaining five victims is reported as critical, compelling their transfer from Lakhisarai to PMCH for specialized medical intervention. Among the deceased, the auto-rickshaw’s driver was identified as Manoj Kumar, hailing from Mahisona, Lakhisarai, while the other eight casualties were denizens of Munger and Lakhisarai.

In a bid to unravel the intricate details surrounding this calamitous incident, District Superintendent of Police, Pankaj Kumar, joined forces with Municipal Police Station President Dalbal. Together, they reached Sadar Astal, embarking on the solemn task of identifying the departed souls. The grieving families of the victims are being notified in a compassionate manner.
