New Delhi: A grievous vehicular accident occurred in New Delhi on Friday morning, as a school bus transporting students collided with a scooter and an auto rickshaw, resulting in one fatality and leaving five others injured. The incident took place in the vicinity of ITO at approximately 7:30 am, as the bus was en route to a school in central Delhi with 42 students aboard.

The bus driver, Shiv Kumar, failed to halt the vehicle in time at a red traffic signal near ITO, leading to the bus colliding with both the scooter and auto rickshaw, according to a police representative. The scooter rider, identified as Abhishek Jain, a resident of Brahmpuri, and the auto rickshaw operator Mahesh Kumar sustained injuries in the impact, as did the bus driver.

Three schoolchildren, ranging in age from 11 to 15 years, also suffered minor injuries. Personnel from the IP Estate police station swiftly escorted the wounded to a nearby medical facility, where doctors pronounced Jain deceased upon arrival. Jain had been on his way to AIIMS hospital when the accident transpired. The remaining injured parties were admitted to LNJP hospital for further care.

A law enforcement official stated that a case has been filed under relevant legal provisions at the IP Estate police station, with the families of the deceased and injured parties duly notified.
