In Muzaffarpur, Bihar’s district, an individual identified as Li Jiaqi, hailing from Shandong province in China, faced a tragic demise subsequent to an alleged suicide endeavor within the confines of the Shaheed Khudiram Central Jail, where he had been detained for unlawful entry into India.
Reportedly, Li Jiaqi was discovered unconscious within the jail’s lavatory, having purportedly endeavored to inflict harm upon himself by employing shards of shattered eyewear in an effort to wound his intimate anatomy. Following this distressing incident, he was conveyed to the Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital for emergency medical intervention. Tragically, he passed away during the course of treatment on Tuesday morning, as confirmed by the superintendent overseeing the penitentiary.
The series of events leading up to this sorrowful culmination began with Li Jiaqi’s apprehension on June 6 in the vicinity of the Brahmapura police station, where he was found to be devoid of any valid documentation permitting his presence in India. His mode of ingress into the country was reported to be via the Nepal border. Subsequent to his detention, a search of his person yielded several items, including a cellular device, three diminutive stone effigies, a cartographic depiction of his native China, and assorted currencies spanning China, Tuan, Nepal, and India.
The legal ramifications of his unauthorized entry unfolded swiftly, with Li Jiaqi being charged under The Foreigners Act of 1946. Interrogations conducted jointly by local law enforcement and intelligence personnel culminated in his transferal to the Shaheed Khudiram Central Jail.
However, the narrative took a somber turn when fellow inmates discovered Li Jiaqi incapacitated within the confines of the penitentiary, prompting urgent medical attention. Subsequent inquiries revealed that he had purportedly engaged in an act of self-harm, inflicting grievous injuries upon himself. Despite the medical interventions undertaken, his condition deteriorated, ultimately resulting in his demise, as lamented by the jail superintendent.
