In Tehri, Uttarakhand, tragedy struck as a car veered off course, plunging into a ditch, claiming the lives of at least two individuals and leaving eight others wounded, as disclosed by district authorities on Sunday.
Detailing the incident, Tehri District Disaster Officer, Brijesh Bhatt, recounted how the unfortunate event transpired near Duwakoti, within Gaja Tehsil of Tehri. “The vehicle’s driver lost control, leading to its descent into the ditch. The accident unfolded during the journey towards Chamba,” explained Brijesh Bhatt. “Tragically, two souls perished in the aftermath, while eight individuals sustained injuries. Prompt rescue efforts ensued, retrieving the injured from the ditch and transporting them to the Community Health Center in Gaza.”
Reports indicate that three of the injured, facing grave conditions, have been referred to AIIMS Rishikesh. Uttarakhand Police have initiated an investigation, registering a case under pertinent sections of the IPC in connection with the incident.
Uttarakhand Police have assured that following post-mortem examinations, the bodies will be released to their respective families. Concurrently, in another heart-wrenching incident, a family from Dehradun met with tragedy in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh. “The vehicle careened out of control, colliding with a roadside pillar, resulting in the demise of four members of a Dehradun family. Additionally, two individuals sustained severe injuries,” disclosed a senior police official. “The accident unfolded during the journey from Dehradun to Moradabad.”
