Mumbai, Maharashtra: Early Sunday morning, April 14, at approximately 5 AM, the peace outside the residence of Bollywood luminary Salman Khan was shattered when two unknown assailants discharged firearms. Law enforcement officials at the scene confirmed three shots were fired, prompting the immediate involvement of Mumbai Police’s Crime Branch to conduct a meticulous investigation.
Visuals from the vicinity of Khan’s Bandra home, depicting the aftermath of the gunfire incident, have circulated extensively online. Maharashtra’s political figure and NCP-SCP leader Supriya Sule expressed her dismay at this egregious disruption, branding it a severe affront to the state’s peacekeeping efforts and a matter of great concern.
“This event is profoundly regrettable given the prestige of the locality where Salman resides; it casts a troubling shadow over the safety of his household,” Sule remarked, further condemning the incident as indicative of systemic shortcomings in the state’s law enforcement infrastructure. Drawing attention to her own locality, she emphasized the rise in criminal activity even in traditionally tranquil areas.
Anand Dubey, representing the Shiv Sena (UBT), echoed similar concerns, emphasizing the peril faced by both the renowned and ordinary citizens alike across Mumbai and Maharashtra. Recent incidents of gunfire, including an altercation involving an MLA in Dombivali, underline the lawlessness pervading the region. Dubey urged immediate attention from the state’s leadership to remedy the escalating sense of insecurity.
Sanjay Raut, another prominent voice from Shiv Sena (UBT), critiqued the state’s lax law enforcement, pointing out that the focus of those in power seemed misplaced. “Where is the Home Minister in all this?” Raut questioned, lamenting the apparent diversion of attention towards electoral pursuits and political scheming.
Meanwhile, a source close to the actor shared with the press that Salman Khan remained largely unfazed by the incident but was primarily concerned for the safety of his family. Salim Khan, his father, advised considering relocation for heightened security.
The Mumbai police confirmed the investigation into the incident, noting that three rounds were fired outside Khan’s residence at Galaxy Apartments. Security measures have been intensified around the premises, with forensic teams actively combing the area for evidence. The police also reported the ongoing review of CCTV footage to ascertain the identity of the assailants.
