Islamabad: Three former Pakistan Military officers have been arrested for alleged hyperlinks with the courtroom martial proceedings in opposition to former spy Lt Gen (retd) Faiz Hameed, the Pakistan Military stated on Thursday.
Hameed, who served because the Director Common of Inter-Providers Intelligence (ISI) from 2019 to 2021, was arrested following a grievance by a personal property developer over alleged misuse of official authority. In line with a recent assertion by the military’s media wing Inter-Providers Public Relations (ISPR), the three retired navy officers have been in navy custody for “actions prejudicial to navy self-discipline”.
“In reference to the FGCM (Area Common Courtroom Martial) proceedings of Lt Gen (retd) Faiz Hameed, the three retired officers are additionally in navy custody for actions prejudicial to navy self-discipline,” the assertion stated. “Additional investigation is underway in opposition to some retired officers and their associates for allegedly inciting instability on the behest and in connivance of vested political pursuits,” it added. The Military didn’t reveal the identities of the three officers.
