Kupwara (Jammu and Kashmir): The valiant soldiers of the Maratha regiment orchestrated a ceremonial event dedicated to jubilantly commemorate and pay homage on the occasion of Shivaji Jayanti, also recognized as Maharaj Jayanti, at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Statue in Kupwara, located at Macchal in the Jammu and Kashmir region, strategically positioned along the India-Pakistan Line of Control.
The gallant troops from the Maratha Regiment stationed at the Line of Control in Macchal offered their respects to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj amidst the snowy ambience, enveloped in a frost-laden terrain with the mercury plummeting below 0 degrees Celsius. They executed a Guard of Honor as a tribute to the illustrious military commander and our venerable King and warrior, succeeded by a traditional dance performed by the Maratha forces to infuse the surroundings with the spirit of a warrior. This was accompanied by resonant chants of “Bharat Mata Ki Jaye.”
Preceding this, the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Eknath Shinde, along with Deputy Chief Ministers Ajit Pawar and Devendra Fadnavis, actively participated in the festivities commemorating the birth anniversary of Shivaji Maharaj at Shivneri Fort.
Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, a 17th-century Indian warrior monarch, hailed as the architect of the Maratha Empire, stands revered as one of the preeminent warriors in the annals of Indian history. The commemoration of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s birth anniversary, known as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti, is an annual observance held on February 19th.
