During the protracted journey spanning over ten hours from Goa to Karnataka, Ray John, the taxi driver, relayed to the news agency PTI that Suchana Seth maintained an eerie silence, refraining from any discourse. The arrest unfolded in Chitradurga on Monday night, where Seth, accompanied by her son’s lifeless form concealed within a bag, was subsequently subjected to a six-day police custody ruling by a Mapusa court.
Upon their arrival at the service apartment, Seth, requesting assistance, implored John to transport her weighty bag from the reception to the awaiting taxi. The taxi driver, as recounted by PTI, perceived the substantial burden, and despite his suggestion to alleviate the load, Seth declined. The sole interaction during the journey occurred in Bicholim town, North Goa, where she sought water.
Progressing towards Bengaluru, the taxi traversed a substantial traffic snarl at the Karnataka-Goa border. Despite John’s attempts to dissuade continuation, Seth insisted, fueling the driver’s growing suspicion. Feigning an extended delay due to the road condition, John proposed a turnaround to the airport, but Seth adamantly chose the road route, deepening the driver’s unease.
Goa police’s alert about Seth’s dubious conduct prompted John to divert to a nearby police station in Aiyamangala, Chitradurga. Here, officials unearthed the tragic discovery of the child’s lifeless form within her bag. Seth confirmed to the authorities that the deceased was her son.
In a parallel development, a crumpled note discovered in Seth’s possession, inscribed with eyeliner, unveiled her distress concerning custody disputes with her estranged husband. According to another PTI report, the note hinted at emotional turmoil regarding her husband’s visitation rights, potentially contributing to the harrowing incident.
Simultaneously, the child’s father, domiciled in Indonesia, arrived in India and conducted the cremation rites for his departed son.
