In the heart of New Delhi, Minister Smriti Irani of Union Minority Affairs unveiled the 2024 Haj Guide and introduced the Haj Suvidha Mobile Application on a vibrant Sunday. Addressing the gathering, the Minister highlighted the synchronized efforts of various ministries within the NDA government aimed at facilitating a seamless and comfortable Haj pilgrimage.
She emphasized that the responsibility for Hajis’ facilities extends beyond the Ministry of Minority Affairs, applauding the Modi government’s establishment of cohesive coordination among all departments to enhance pilgrim amenities. Noteworthy was her mention that over 5000 women had applied under the Lady without Mehram (LWM) category for Haj, surpassing last year’s individual women Hajis count of 4,300, reaching an impressive 5160 this year.
Continuing her discourse, the Minister conveyed the government’s persistent dedication to improving the Haj experience for pilgrims. She elucidated on the utility of the Haj Suvidha Mobile App, elucidating its role in aiding pilgrims to communicate their whereabouts to officials in times of necessity. The app, she affirmed, would assist pilgrims in identifying the nearest health facilities when required.
It’s important to note that a total quota of 1,75,025 pilgrims from India has been finalized for the Haj in 2024. This was achieved following the Bilateral Haj Agreement 2024 signed between India and Saudi Arabia (KSA) in Jeddah last January. The agreement involved Union Minister Smriti Irani, accompanied by V Muraleedharan, Minister of State for External Affairs and Parliamentary Affairs, engaging with Dr. Tawfiq bin Fawzan Al-Rabiah, Minister of Hajj and Umrah of Saudi Arabia (KSA).
For the upcoming Haj in 2024, 1,40,020 seats have been reserved for pilgrims to proceed through the Haj Committee of India, offering substantial benefits to first-time pilgrims. Additionally, 35,005 pilgrims will have the opportunity to proceed through Haj Group Operators, as stated in the official press release from the Ministry of Minority Affairs.
Yearly, millions of Muslims globally embark on the sacred pilgrimage of Hajj/Haj, a journey that holds profound significance in believers’ lives. This spiritual expedition provides a unique chance to connect with Allah, seek forgiveness, and fortify one’s faith. The earnest desire to walk among the crowds to Mina, resonating with the Labaik, and partaking in the rituals of Haj is a sentiment cherished by countless individuals.
