Amidst the impending farmers’ march towards the National capital on February 13, the Union Government extends an invitation to agricultural unions for a rendezvous, aimed at delving into and resolving their myriad demands.
Simultaneously, in anticipation of undesirable events, Haryana Chief Executive Manohar Lal Khattar has proclaimed the cessation of mobile internet, bulk SMS, and all dongle services across multiple districts until February 13, coinciding with the farmers’ scheduled journey to Delhi, advocating an array of requests.
Per the Haryana administration’s directive, the suspension encompasses bulk SMS and all dongle services on mobile networks, excluding voice calls.
As stipulated by the official mandate, mobile internet services face suspension in seven districts—Ambala, Kurukshetra, Kaithal, Jind, Hisar, Fatehabad, and Sirsa—from 6 am on February 11 until 11.59 pm on February 13. Meanwhile, heightened security measures were implemented in Jind, Haryana, preceding the planned ‘Delhi Chalo’ march by the farmers.
Jind Police, as a preventive measure for passenger convenience, disseminated a traffic advisory. Motorists and commuters are urged to employ the main thoroughfares of the state exclusively during urgent situations on the day of the programmed march.
The advisory further acknowledges the potential for traffic disruption on all primary routes from Haryana to Punjab. Authorities have meticulously orchestrated plans to ensure tranquility, prevent any form of violence, and streamline traffic and public transportation, as articulated by official sources. In the event of any untoward circumstances, individuals are encouraged to reach out via dial-112, according to the advisory.
Noteworthy police deployment and strategic barricading have been enacted in Ambala, officials report. Remarkably, leaders of the Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) Lakhowal in Ludhiana declared on Saturday their decision not to partake in the ‘Delhi Chalo’ protest on February 13, voicing their intent to resist if farmers encounter mistreatment during the march.
