In Sonipat, three individuals have been detained for allegedly orchestrating an unlawful operation for determining the sex of a fetus within a car located in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh.
This enforcement action aligns with an ongoing campaign spearheaded by the Sonipat PNDT team from Haryana to curb such illicit endeavors.
Responding to intelligence on a group facilitating unauthorized sex determinations in Meerut, the Sonipat PNDT team executed a covert operation to apprehend the suspects.
The investigation revealed a Sonipat resident orchestrating the scheme with accomplices in Meerut. They employed a portable ultrasound device concealed within a vehicle for the procedures.
Sumit Kaushik, a PNDT official, disclosed that a pregnant woman was directed to Shaukeen, one of the apprehended, for fetal gender evaluation. The suspects transported the woman to Baghpat, where they convened with Shakti Singh, proprietor of a medical store. From there, they proceeded to Meerut.
Upon arrival in Meerut, Shahnawaz and Aslam arrived in a vehicle and conducted the ultrasound examination within the car. They informed the woman she was carrying a male fetus.
Once the woman alerted the PNDT team, they intervened, detaining Shaukeen, Shahnawaz, and Shakti Singh while Aslam escaped.
The PNDT team subsequently alerted Meerut Police and the Uttar Pradesh health department. The Sonipat PNDT team escorted the trio to the local police station. The suspects are currently undergoing questioning by Meerut Police.
Previously, the Sonipat PNDT team carried out similar operations in multiple regions of Uttar Pradesh, closing down over a dozen illegal sex determination clinics.
