In the heart of Mumbai’s Malad area, a colossal conflagration erupted at a towering 22-storey edifice on a Saturday afternoon. According to the ANI news agency, the inferno originated at the Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) structure situated in the Kurar village precinct of Malad.

Upon being apprised of the situation, a quintet of firefighting experts swiftly journeyed to the scene, deploying concerted endeavors to quell the blazing turmoil. Remarkably, no loss of life was recorded during this incident, as authorities confirmed.

In a parallel occurrence earlier in the day, two members of the Rajasthan Police sustained injuries when the shelter they inhabited at Bihar Niwas in Chanakyapuri, central Delhi, was engulfed in flames, as reported by PTI.

The injured individuals were identified as Head Constable Hansraj, aged 56, and Constable Dinesh. They have been admitted to Safdarjung Hospital, as per police statements.

This incident unfolded mere days after a substantial blaze erupted in Dombivli East, a suburb of Mumbai. The Thane Regional Disaster Management Cell assured the absence of casualties in the incident that transpired earlier in the week.

The event transpired at the Casa Aurelia building within Phase 2 of the Lodha Palava development complex around 1:23 pm on January 13. A short-circuit on the eighth floor served as the catalyst for the inferno, which subsequently engulfed multiple residences within the structure. However, the occupants were successfully evacuated prior to the conflagration’s escalation. Notably, the residents were confined to the third story, as the upper floors were still under construction. Prompt intervention by fire engines resulted in the extinguishing of the flames after an extended period, according to credible reports.

A fire brigade official informed the Times of India that the blaze permeated the duct area of the residences, where fiber sheets adorned each floor. The fire was conclusively subdued by approximately 2:30 pm.

“Instantaneously upon receiving notification, our emergency response team from the Palava City Management Association (PCMA) reached the site to facilitate resolution,” declared a statement released by the Lodha developers.

As per insights from the Palava Fire Station, there were no recorded casualties in the course of this incident.
