In Kannur, a region nestled in the verdant embrace of Kerala, India, tragedy struck as the serenity of the night shattered in a collision between a family’s automobile and a formidable lorry.
The victims of this calamitous event, comprising five souls, bore the weight of fate’s cruel decree. Among them stood KN Padmakumar, a denizen of Kalichanadukkam, Choorikkatt Sudhakaran hailing from Bheemanadi, Ajitha, Kozhummal Krishnan, and the tender spirit of Akash, a mere nine summers old.
The chronicle of sorrow unfolded at approximately 10:15 pm, ensconced within the precincts of Kannapuram, Kannur. The family, en route from Thalassery to Kasaragod, encountered the juggernaut of misfortune in the form of a lorry laden with the cargo of gas cylinders, journeying from the hinterlands of Mangaluru, Karnataka.
The harrowing impact left four occupants of the car bereft of life’s embrace instantaneously, while the young Akash’s demise was reluctantly confirmed at the hallowed halls of Pariyaram Medical College Hospital. Amidst the debris of shattered dreams, the lorry’s custodian also bore the scars of the encounter.
The genesis of this fateful journey stemmed from Sudhakaran’s noble errand to deliver his progeny, Saurav, unto the halls of academia in Kozhikode, as the lad pursued the arduous path towards Chartered Accountancy.
In the aftermath of tragedy, the authorities, both sentinel and savior, descended upon the scene with a sense of urgency and purpose. The fire brigade, in tandem with the constabulary, extricated the lifeless remnants from the twisted wreckage. Meanwhile, the arbiters of vehicular law, representing the Motor Vehicle Department, made their presence felt in the somber tableau.
With the perpetrators of fate’s cruel machinations ensnared within the grasp of justice, the wheels of inquiry set in motion, ensuring that accountability and closure found solace amidst the shadows of grief.
