Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir): In a significant advancement aimed at enhancing patient care at the governmental medical facilities in Jammu and Kashmir, the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha guided union territory administration has declared an extension of operational days and hours in all hospitals affiliated with Government Medical Colleges and Government Dental Colleges in Jammu and Kashmir.
According to an edict issued in this context by the Department of Health and Medical Education Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday, April 4, physicians’ working hours in hospitals associated with GMC Srinagar and GMC Jammu and Government Dental Colleges will now span from the commencement time of 9 am till 5 pm cessation time on all weekdays except Saturday. On Saturdays, the operational period will persist from 9 am to 1:30 pm.
There will be a midday respite of thirty minutes from 1.30 pm to 2 pm.
The fresh schedules will be enforced at Srinagar’s SMH Hospital, Bone and Joint Hospital, Chest Disease Hospital, Super Specialty, Lal Ded hospital, and others.
Previously, the outpatient department hours of the hospitals typically ranged from approximately 11 am to 2 pm. The action by the authorities is anticipated to elevate the standard of patient care at the medical facilities.
Significantly, the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha led Jammu and Kashmir Government has assigned about 50 public hospitals and 112 medical practitioners in the union territory who will furnish obligatory health attestations to the devotees of Shri Amarnath Yatra, the annual Hindu pilgrimage to the Amarnath cave in the Himalayas in south Kashmir, which is poised to commence from June 29 for this year.
