Inaugurating the commencement of India Energy Week 2024 in Goa on Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also consecrate the permanent campus of the National Institute of Technology (NIT) and lay the foundation stones for various projects exceeding a total value of ₹1,330 crore.
During the morning session, PM Modi will commence the day by inaugurating the ONGC Sea Survival Centre at Betul village in South Goa, concurrently launching India Energy Week.
Later in the afternoon, the Prime Minister is slated to partake in the Viksit Bharat, Viksit Goa 2047 program at Fatorda, as detailed in a communiqué issued by the Prime Minister’s Office.
The PMO underscored the pivotal focus on achieving ‘aatmanirbharta’ (self-reliance) in energy needs, noting that India Energy Week 2024, occurring from February 6 to 9 in Goa, marks a significant stride in this direction.
Billed as India’s most extensive and all-encompassing energy exposition and conference, the event is poised to bring together the entire energy value chain, propelling India’s aspirations for an energy transition. As part of the itinerary, the Prime Minister will engage in a roundtable discussion with global oil & gas CEOs and experts.
India Energy Week 2024 aims to foster and endorse startups, seamlessly integrating them into the energy value chain. Anticipated to attract 17 energy ministers from various countries, the event projects an attendance of over 35,000 and participation from more than 900 exhibitors.
Six dedicated country pavilions for Canada, Germany, the Netherlands, Russia, the UK, and the US are set to feature, alongside a special Make in India pavilion highlighting innovative solutions spearheaded by Indian MSMEs in the energy sector.
Simultaneously, the newly established NIT Goa campus boasts comprehensive facilities, including complexes for various departments, hostels, a healthcare center, staff quarters, an amenity center, a sports ground, and other amenities, catering to the diverse needs of students, faculty, and staff.
The Prime Minister will also dedicate the National Institute of Watersports’ new campus to the public, offering 28 specialized courses geared towards advancing watersports and water rescue activities for both civilians and the armed forces.
Adding to the array of inaugurations, PM Modi will unveil a 100 TPD Integrated Waste Management Facility in South Goa, designed for the scientific treatment of 60 TPD wet waste and 40 TPD dry waste. The facility features a 500 KW solar power plant generating surplus electricity.
In the realm of connectivity, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for a Passenger Ropeway, accompanied by associated tourism activities, linking Panaji and Reis Magos in North Goa. Furthermore, the initiation of the construction of a 100 MLD water treatment plant in South Goa will be marked by the laying of the foundation stone, as outlined in the official release.
Rounding off the event, PM Modi will distribute appointment orders to 1,930 new government recruits across various departments during the Rozgar Mela. Additionally, he will present sanction letters to beneficiaries of diverse welfare schemes.
