In Muzaffarpur, Bihar, the local police have taken into custody PFI operatives Yakub Khan and Bilal in connection with the Phulwari Sharif terrorist module case.
Sources within the law enforcement revealed that a specialized unit, led by Deputy Superintendent of Police, subjected the pair to interrogation. Presently confined in Beur jail in Patna, the questioning transpired at the Patna Anti-Terrorist Squad office on Tuesday, as security concerns deterred their physical presence in Muzaffarpur.
Reportedly armed with an extensive list of over 100 inquiries, the Muzaffarpur Police probed various aspects. Queries encompassed PFI funding, training camps, and clandestine gatherings. Additionally, the investigation delved into the extent of youth involvement from Muzaffarpur with the PFI organization.
According to insider information, the accused individuals were actively working to fortify the PFI presence in North Bihar. The intensive four-hour interrogation session unfolded on Tuesday, with further questioning scheduled for Wednesday.
The duo faced charges related to recruiting for PFI and operating a training facility in Parsauni, within the jurisdiction of Baruraj police station. Yakub Khan hails from Mughalpur in the Mehsi police station of East Champaran district, while Bilal resides in the Harpur Kishuni area. Both found themselves accused by the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
Previously, the NIA had apprehended Bilal, also known as Irshad, subsequently sending him to jail. Simultaneously, Baruraj Police had secured PFI Bihar secretary Riyaz Maharoof, placing him in custody for further interrogation.
