The Chairperson of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), S Somanath, articulated on Wednesday that the space program has cultivated “endogenous proficiency” within the realm of space exploration, elucidating that they have developed their proprietary initiatives and methodologies to chart the trajectory for future endeavors. Somanath embarked on a visit to Kalam’s Institute of Youth Excellence in Hyderabad where he bestowed honors upon students.
“The space program has engendered endogenous proficiency within the domain of space exploration, encompassing the construction of indigenous rockets, satellites, and proprietary application initiatives aimed at serving the nation across civilian and strategic arenas. We have successfully achieved this feat. Presently, we command recognition within the space exploration domain and possess the autonomy to determine the course of action for future endeavors. This signifies the formidable position we currently occupy. Furthermore, with the recent opening up of the space sector, there is an influx of private enterprises and startups, heralding a phase of burgeoning economic activity within the space sector. The ongoing transformation is the hallmark of the present era,” he expressed.
Moreover, Somnath commended the relentless efforts of Kalam’s Institute of Youth Excellence in instilling inspiration among the youth. “They have diligently endeavored to instill inspiration among the youth, particularly drawing inspiration from the legacy of Kalam, thereby crafting an inspiring narrative around India’s progress. Today, I had the privilege of engaging with the students, and I am confident that this interaction will provide invaluable insights into their future endeavors within the space sector. ISRO is committed to extending the utmost assistance to facilitate their endeavors,” he asserted.
Earlier, the Director General of the European Space Agency (ESA), Josef Aschbacher, extolled the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) for its recent string of successful launches, lauding India’s remarkable achievements in space exploration and, notably, lunar exploration.
Aschbacher conveyed his appreciation via a post on X, subsequent to ESA hosting its 323rd Council meeting in Paris, which was attended by the ISRO Chairman, S Somanath.
“The strides that India is making in space exploration – particularly in lunar exploration – are commendable. We had the privilege of hosting Dr. S. Somanath, Chairman of ISRO, at the ESA Council today. It was a pivotal moment for delegates to gain insights into the current and prospective collaborations between ESA and ISRO,” he shared on X. India has now etched its name as the first nation to venture close to the Moon’s uncharted South Pole, positioning itself among the top four nations to execute a soft landing on the lunar surface.
