In the heart of Srinagar, nestled in the former state of Jammu and Kashmir, Prime Minister Narendra Modi asserted on the 7th of March that Article 370, bestowing distinct privileges upon the region, breathed a “whiff of rejuvenation” into the area and liberally “unshackled the populace” from the constraints imposed by regional political entities.
Speaking fervently at a gathering held at the Bakhshi Stadium in Srinagar during his visit to Kashmir, PM Modi contended that for decades, the Congress and its affiliates had “misdirected the residents of Jammu and Kashmir and the entire nation concerning Article 370.” He posed the question, “Did Article 370 truly confer benefits upon the denizens of JK or merely favored select families?” He emphasized that people had come to comprehend that they had been deceived. For certain families, their aspirations had been ensnared in chains. With the absence of Article 370 today, the youthful ambitions of JK are materializing, ushering in new opportunities and ensuring equitable rights and prospects for all.
He appended, “Pakistani refugees and the Valmiki community, bereft of voting rights, now find themselves endowed with their rightful privileges.”
Modi expounded, “This marks the dawn of a new Jammu and Kashmir awaited for millennia. This is the J-K for which Shyama Prasad Mukherjee made sacrifices. Modi pledges an unwavering commitment to reciprocate this affection. Consider it a pledge, an assurance of upholding assurances.”
He remarked, “Jammu and Kashmir symbolizes India’s forefront. In times past, Indian legislation didn’t permeate this territory, and the underprivileged failed to reap the benefits of the Centre’s welfare initiatives. The tides have turned. Presently, welfare initiatives benefiting the entire nation are inaugurated from Kashmir.”
Transitioning into campaign mode for his party, the BJP, PM Modi remarked, “Lotuses grace every lake here, even adorning the logo of the JK Cricket Association. Whether by coincidence or as nature’s communiqué, the lotus aligns with the BJP’s emblem. Hence, Jammu and Kashmir shares a profound connection with the lotus.”
