In the wake of the establishment of the fresh cabinet in Jharkhand, Chief Minister Champai Soren, accompanied by the state Congress President Rajesh Thakur, graced Jharkhand Bhawan in the national capital this Saturday. The Jharkhand Congress President, Rajesh Thakur, articulated that CM Soren is scheduled for a rendezvous with Congress Chief Mallikarjun Kharge.
Certain MLAs, disheartened by their exclusion from the cabinet, have convened in the national capital to articulate their grievances to Mallikarjun Kharge. Thakur conveyed to ANI, “Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren will engage with Congress Chief Mallikarjun Kharge post the cabinet’s formation. We will also confer with other luminaries within the party… The MLAs have arrived in Delhi to articulate their concerns,” Thakur asserted.
Amidst speculations regarding a potential schism between Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and Congress regarding the recent cabinet composition, the sibling of former Chief Minister Hemant Soren and party luminary, Basant Soren, dispelled any uncertainties among Congress MLAs.
“No dissent prevails. The Congress MLAs harbored certain reservations, all of which have been dispelled. Our familial cohesion stands undisturbed. Contentment prevails among all. I am en route to Delhi,” Basant Soren affirmed. Following the swearing-in of eight ministers in the new Champai Soren cabinet in Jharkhand this Saturday, a faction of Congress MLAs expressed discontent, contending that the expansion overlooked fresh faces, as was their plea.
Dipika Pandey Singh, a Congress MLA, alleged that they had proffered their perspectives prior to the cabinet’s oath-taking. “We pressed for the inclusion of new faces if the new government was being established and the cabinet was undergoing a reshuffle,” Singh expounded during an interaction with ANI.
Another Congress MLA, Anup Singh, iterated that the MLAs had notified the Pradesh Congress Committee president about their apprehensions, and their plea persists unaltered. “We, constituting a group of twelve, have communicated our apprehensions via a letter to our PCC president. Our request remains unchanged,” Anup Singh asserted.
Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren, on Friday, allocated ministerial portfolios, reserving domains like home and personnel for his purview. On February 2, Champai Soren assumed office as the chief minister of the state, and by February 5, the coalition government secured victory in the floor test with a majority of 47 to 29.
