In the midst of the dual confrontations unfolding in the regions of Kathua and Doda within Jammu and Kashmir, a member of the CRPF and a suspected militant from Pakistan have met their demise, as events transpire. Notably, a close call befell two prominent law enforcement figures—a DIG from the Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Senior Superintendent of Police in Kathua—following an assailant’s unleashing of a barrage of gunfire upon their convoy in the Kathua district on Wednesday, according to reports.

It is discerned that the convoy carrying the aforementioned officers came under assault subsequent to a concealed militant unleashing more than two dozen rounds at the vehicles. However, reports indicate no fatalities among the officers or their accompanying personnel.

In a correlated development, security forces have uncovered a cache of arms and munitions in the vicinity of the ongoing skirmish. Among the seized arsenal are three magazines, each containing 30 rounds, an additional magazine with 24 rounds, 75 rounds stored in a distinct polyethylene container, three live grenades, a sum of 1 lakh currency in 200 notes of rupees 500 denomination, consumables consisting of Pakistani-manufactured chocolates, dehydrated chickpeas, and stale flatbreads, alongside Pakistani-manufactured medications and pain-relieving injections, a syringe, two sets of A4 batteries, and a handset enveloped in adhesive tape, equipped with an antenna and two dangling wires.

At present, one member of the CRPF and two militants have succumbed to fatal injuries in an ongoing clash within the Saida Sukhal area of Kathua district, while another skirmish continues to unfold in Doda district.

Meanwhile, in response to the militant assault upon a collaborative encampment of security forces situated in the Chattergala vicinity of Bhaderwah within the Doda district, authorities have mandated the temporary cessation of vehicular movement along the Bhaderwah-Pathankot Highway, pending further directives.
