In Ballari, a trio of laborers met a tragic fate as they plummeted into a reservoir within a Karnataka-based factory, as per police reports issued on the last day of the working week.
This unfortunate occurrence unfolded within the confines of the Jindal Steel factory premises. The workers, engrossed in rectifying a malfunctioning pipeline, overlooked the critical step of ceasing the water inflow. Consequently, one of the workers inadvertently tumbled into the expansive reservoir utilized for steel-cooling purposes. Witnessing this perilous predicament, their comrades, in a commendable act of bravery, leaped into the reservoir successively to rescue the imperiled individual.
Although extricated from the aqueous depths with the collective assistance of their peers, the three individuals suffered grievous injuries. Subsequently, they were transported to Jindal Sanjeevani Hospital for urgent medical attention. Regrettably, despite medical interventions, the trio succumbed to their injuries during the course of treatment.
The departed souls have been identified as Jedeppa, hailing from the hamlet of Bhubanahalli, Sushant, a denizen of Bangalore, and Mahadevan, domiciled in Chennai.
In response to the distressing turn of events, a contingent from the Torangallu police precinct promptly convened at the factory premises to initiate a comprehensive investigation. A formal complaint has been lodged at the Torangallu police station, marking the commencement of investigative proceedings. A senior official from the Torangallu police station divulged, “Inquiries are underway to ascertain the precise causative factors underlying this unfortunate incident.”
The mortal remains have been dispatched for post-mortem examinations, and the kin of the deceased laborers have been duly apprised of the distressing news.
